The antioxydants with the help of cholesterol
The antioxidants prevent cholesterol from oxidizing and thus limit the plate of atheroma. However it is precisely this plate which is at the origin of the cardiovascular disease.

Many studies thus showed that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables or antioxidant supplements has a favorable role in this type of diseases. For example, the supplements of vitamins C and E slow down in a very important way the progression of the plate of atheroma among coronary patients.

What are the cardiovascular factors of risks
As their name indicates they are in fact pathologies which touch the cardiac system or the arterial system. They are serious illnesses and often mortals.
Among them, we will mention
- myocardial infarction: a blockage is formed in the coronary arteries which irrigate the heart normally. Blood which cannot any more circulate, the court lacks oxygen and it can stop. It is the mortal infarction by heart failure. Sometimes it is only one part of the heart which is touched, the treatment is a medical urgency.
- The cerebral vascular accident: the blockage is formed in an artery of the brain which is not irrigated any more normally. The consequences are serious, sometimes irreversible: paralysis of the members, incapacity to speak...
- Arthritis of the lower limbs which can lead to gangrene and the amputation of the concerned part.

Antioxidants reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. But which are the most effective ?

What are the cardiovascular factors of risks
The age: 45 years old or more for the men
55 years old or more among women
family antecedents of cardiovascular diseases:
Myocardial infarction or sudden death before 55 years old of the father or a relative of the first degree of male sex or before the 65 years old of the mother or of a relative of the first degree of female sex.
Smoking
Arterial hypertension
Hypercholesterolemia
and in particular a high rate of LDL cholesterol or bad cholesterol Diabetes
Here are some examples ?

• Vitamin E
Daily supplements from 200 to 800 UI of vitamin E decrease the risk of infarction among coronary patients according to at least three concordant studies. But other studies did not find positive results.

• Vitamin C
The vitamin C would decrease the cholesterol level in blood as well as the blood pressure. In addition the vitamin C reinforces the solidity of the vessels by supporting the collagen synthesis.

• Isoflavones
The isoflavones of soy have an effect on blood cholesterol. This is why Food and Drug Administration of the United States authorizes the manufacturers to indicate on their packing that a diet with soy can reduce the cardiovascular risk.
