The shark is part of these rare animal species which seem to defy time.
The survival and the remarkable resistance of the shark caused the curiosity of many researchers, and some important scientist discoveries were made about it since the Seventies.
It contains two important biological agents: the anti-angiogenic agents, which prevent the formation of the blood vessels, and inhibitors of collagénase, enzymes which digest fibers of collagen and other components structural of conjunctive fabrics.
The great popularity of the cartilage of shark as nutritional supplement is due to its very high concentration in active ingredients.
The shark’s cartilage is composed of an interlacing of macro-protein fibers which include six or seven proteins of importance for health, the mucopolysaccarids and the glycosaminoglycanes.
The mucopolysaccarids have a particular importance, especially the sulphate of chondroitine, for its help in the production of the mucilagineous and lubricant fluids of the organism, for its immuno-regulating properties and for its anti-inflammatory drugs effects.
The shark’s cartilage is also characterized by its proteins which actively prevent the creation of new blood vessels (a process of growth called angiogense). The shark’s cartilage is an excellent food source of organic Calcium.
